Who is Satguru Yeshu?
From ancient times many people looked forward to the day when an Avatar (or “Messiah”) would come. When I first read about Satguru Yeshu, I wondered if the story about him was true or not. As I learned more about Yeshu, I realised that his teaching and life lessons would deeply transform my life. I invite you to explore the true story about this amazing man who brought us new light.
Some of the things I discovered about him include …
-
His coming was foretold from ancient times.
-
His birth was a miracle
- Wise men from an eastern country saw his star when he arrived and visited him to give gifts and to worship him.
- As was foretold, he was born in very humble circumstances
-
He lived a holy life fulfilling the dharma perfectly
- He was a man of peace and a teacher of love
- He was a Brahmachari
- He chose to live as an ordinary man and did not love money
- He welcomed friendship from all castes and deeply cared for his devotees
-
He showed that he was God in human form
- He healed many and even raised people from death back to life
- He overpowered all kinds of evil spirits
- At one time, he was transformed into heavenly form in the presence of closest devotees
-
He gave us a new pathway to Moksh free from the fear of death!
Four books recorded his life and teaching
Four books recorded the life of Satguru Yeshu. These books were written by four devotees who followed Yeshu: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In modern times, we refer to him as Jesus but in his village, he was called Yeshu. The video series on this site uses the words written by John. Sometimes we use a video from one of the other books.
From darkness to light
The word “guru” in Sanskrit comes from two words “darkness” and “light” - out of darkness and into the light. As our Satguru, Yeshu offers to take us from darkness to light. In the book of John, we read his words:
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
As you watch this video ask yourself … Which is more powerful - Light or Darkness?
Questions
- Do you think that light and darkness can live together or share the same dwelling?
- Why? why not?
Final thoughts
3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:3-5
Everything, including you and me, is created by God. God longs to shine new light into our life. Join us in a journey to explore how this can happen.
The writer John sometimes refers to himself as “The one whom Yeshu loved.” As a close friend and devotee, he gives us a valuable understanding of what it was like to live under his teaching.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2
Who better to learn from than the one Satguru who was with God from the beginning? We invite you to travel with us on this journey of light.
