Being satisfied

The bread of life satisfies our spiritual hunger.

Roti bread and chilli on a plate

I grew up in a family of seven siblings. Many of my neighbours had very little to eat and our homes were very close to each other. My mother would remind me to be satisfied with what we had to eat. I remember watching one of my neighbour’s children enjoying feasting on dry roti (bread) and my mother pointing this out. This picture has always remained in my mind.

We are all hungry and thirsty at some point in our lives. See what Yeshu did one day to care for over 5,000 followers who were hungry.

20 And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. Matthew 14:20

Think of freshly baked roti … It awakens our taste buds. In eating we are fulfilling our physical hunger. In being satisfied we are fulfilling our spiritual hunger. Yeshu desires that we are nourished in body and spirit. I’ve learned to be satisfied in all things as I’ve seen the God of Yeshu provide all I need.

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 6:35

As God on earth, Yeshu satisfies my spiritual hunger. Through him I learn what God’s nature is like, and how to live life well. Yeshu has taught me that being thankful with what I have is the key to being satisfied in every aspect of my life. I no longer seek wealth or fame, but I seek know and be satisfied in Yeshu the Bread of Life.
