Yeshu has power over nature

Yeshu calms a storm and walks on water

Yeshu's followers standing in a boat, afraid of a storm at sea

On a recent trip to India, my family and I travelled to the Gateway of India in Mumbai. It was a rain day, and we decided to get on the boat for a ride. It was very exciting in the beginning but very soon, the waters were choppy and there was a huge storm. The boat started swaying from one side to the other. Everyone was being pushed around. It was certainly not something that we had expected to experience. We were all scared and I was praying to Yeshu to save us.

In the book of Matthew, we read about a similar incident where Yeshu and his disciples were in a boat and a storm came up.

The disciples were scared and they woke up Yeshu and asked him to save them. Yeshu got up and rebuked the wind and the waves and it became calm.

23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” Matthew 8:23-27

What we learn in this story from Yeshu’s followers is that he has power over nature! He can calm the storms in our lives.

I’ve learned not only to take the big things in my life to Yeshu but also the little things in life. For example, when I’m looking for a car park, I sometimes pray to him. If I’m cooking the food at home and praying that it will turn out well for my family or friends coming. These are little moments when I pray and talk to God. He is interested in every aspect of our lives. The God of Yeshu is not just a God of the big things but also the small things in life.

Final Thoughts

Imagine if you could ask the one who created nature and the universe to help you in your time of need. He doesn’t always calm the storms in our lives but he is always there with us in the storm to show us the pathway through it. Through each storm, we can learn to trust him more and more.
